Juan 50: The Night Of The Surprise

It was the night of the surprise
As people filled the space
I saw you come across the room
Familiar face I’ve known
How different our hello
Barely audible to those around us
Picking up where we left off
Save for the simple space
That stood between us
We played our old familiar roles
On the night of the surprise

It was the time of the surprise
As friendly smiles arrived
I saw you from across the way
Familiar face I’ve known
How simple our hello
Barely visible to those around us
Picking up where we left off
Save for the pretty space
That lay before us
We played our old familiar game
On the night of the surprise

So there we stood
As vows were taken
We understood
Some things must be forsaken
To find peace upon the past
Forgiveness must be vast
To find refuge in the future
We smile upon these souls in suture
Who embark on their new roles
We have to move beyond
We have to rise above
We have to learn the lesson
For we are in the presence of
Love that has been love

It was the time of their two lives
As friends we all arrived
I saw us walk across the room
Familiar faces that we know
So vivid our hello
Loud and warm to those around us
Picking up where we left off
Save for the quiet space
That stood between us
We played our old familiar game
On the night of their surprise

So there we stood
As vows were taken
We understood
Some things must be forsaken
To find peace upon the past
Forgiveness must be vast
To find refuge in the future
We look upon two souls in suture
Who embark on their new roles
We have to move beyond
We have to rise above
How bountiful the lesson
For we are in the presence of
Both then and here at last
Of love that has been love
Love that has been love
