I woke up this morning and found my steady staple snoring next to me and my heart was full.
After an evening of nearly killing each other in the kitchen as her Hialeah Ina Garten clashed with my Little Havana Emril Lagasse, it was nice to wake up and know that one is loved.
Today we will partake of friends, family and those who have blurred those lines in the greatest of ways, cementing how truly lucky we are not only on this day but on everyday we share.
I’m looking forward to the meal that is always a better idea in theory than it is in practice. Will the standing scalloped potato side dish be a hit or a miss? Once the butter and carbs find their way into me, I can’t guarantee that I won’t find moments to nap, repeatedly.
I’m looking forward to lifting my Christmas carol superstition ban and singing with hopeless abandon as soon as Santa makes his way through the parade.
It is Holiday time. It is a happy day and it is all ours.
